PICK YOUR HIVE
PICK YOUR HIVE

Good day to you all.

As we continue to live through crisis, worldwide governments seemingly lack any formative action to change the general direction towards which mankind is hurtling. Continued raping of the planet of its limited resources and more environmental degradation. I personally realise what a fortunate human being I am.

However, the world in which we live needs drastic change if the future generations of today’s kids are going to survive in what is an ever increasingly hostile world. We need less weapons, less conflict, less rhetoric and more solutions. The time has come to overhaul the economic systems that really no longer benefit the majority of us. I feel inspired by a lady called Mariana Mazzucato, and the book she published last week. I feel as if I've been waiting a lifetime to read such an inspirational book - The common good economy.

I hope more agencies than the UN adopt and listen to the message she is sending out.

As for the bee’s, I am sure they are fine this summer, they have been with us for millions more years than us, and are better adapted to survive than most people.

In two weeks time I will need some help and I will sacrifice the production of my best hive to hopefully breed and produce 4 new Queens, that are badly required in order to help us collectively with local pollation. Remember folks, without pollinators, there would be no food. Unless you image a world with micro drones flying around. God forbid, that’s not a future I want to be part of.

I wish to thank Eppistone Village Forum, Nottingham for finding me a new bee site for 2027.

Controversial yet interesting news last week, CIBER Centre for Integrative Bee Research introduced a hybrid bee in the US, using nano  technology to give them a biological advantage. They are creating a ''super' bee, I'll leave it up to you to decide if you believe this is ethical or not. Remember folks, US AND UK Beekeepers can lose 55% of their managed hives each year.

Did you know that there are more than one hundred free living colonies across the south East of England?

On the other hand, wild living colonies live without intervention.

The aim of these super bee’s is to breed a bee with lower defensiveness and some varroa tolerance. These are the bee’s that people in the modern world now need. However my belief is that the best bees hale from Africa. Simply because they carry a pure genome.

There is an error unlocking the Genome, and that error is 2-3%, its exactly that missing 2-3% unknown quality that will cause future problems. Especially when extrapolated into a cyber world and AI. Which people believe is their future. Survivor bee’s genetics have been manipulated, just like everything in the modern world. The African bee’s are the best in the world, simply because they are purely breed and need no human intervention. They are still pure.

On a different note I dearly hope I can continue to train and inspire tomorrow’s Beekeepers, they are needed. I’m dearly hoping I can start training a nine year old in 2027. Fingers crossed and look out for him on our Bee News section next year.

I have Dr Christina Waters to thank for my input in today’s blog.
